I've had an interesting life lately.

I've read: The Shape of Sola Scriptura, Christianity and Liberalism, and Reflections on the Revolution in France. All three excellent.

I helped our church hand out free water bottles at Tulip Time. That was fun. I talked to lots of people, and enjoyed myself.

I babysat for the Nolders tonight with Hannah. It was fun. They're good kids mostly and really darlings.

I'm excited for this summer. I have a million books to read. I started Don Quixote which should be awesome.

A little more on yesterday's post

As usual news of this sort is sketchy. Is it true? Is it not? I was made sick enough to jump on the bandwagon, but now of course there's no way to no the whole truth. At the best it's a very sick joke, at worst it's true. Here's the follow-up article. Art has really gone down hill, has it not?

I wish I knew what to say

So, today was up and down like every day. The definite worst thing was reading an article about a really repugnant, abominable "art" project. I can't get over it. I don't want to talk about it really but if you're prepared to think of abortion as art you can go here. It's the sickest thing I've heard of in a long, long time. Beyond the issue of the murder involved (yeah, what a society; I say aside from the murder...) how completely crude is this when you think about women who have experienced miscarriages? It's a disgusting mockery.

Oddly Enough - I've been thinking

I'm still dreaming of changing the world. My current plans for world domination (or transformation) have lately been revised to contain a lot more studying and a lot less sweeping, but they are subject to change without notice.

The goal is actually a thriving Christian culture. Right here. I mean culture with all the trimmings, not just people being "saved". This means, music, theatricals, beautiful artwork, dancing, and of course, work and church. Unfortunately for me, my talents are sadly limited. That doesn't mean I'm not going to start trying. And I have friends who are all beginning on this course one way or another. Some have wonderful domestic skills which should never be underestimated. Where better to start changing things than where you are? But, as they say, those who can't do, teach. So that's where I'm starting. Or will be starting a few years hence, Lord willing.

My intent is not, in fact, homeschooling, not currently. For one thing, such plans will have to wait an indefinite period of time; anywhere from five years or so to never. For another thing, homeschooling is not the answer to all education problems and I theorize that (especially in the older grades) many kids would really benefit from being in a class setting rather than all alone at home. I've also noticed that parents get nervous and stressed out about homeschooling so many kids...so many ages. Wouldn't be great to help out? Parents of course, are always responsible for their children but that doesn't mean that they have to do everything themselves.

I always feel arrogant, planning to be a teacher, possibly (oh, this IS crazy) to start a school in only a few years' time. But with God all things are possible, so I'm hopeful. Hearts and minds are ready for the shaping and someone's got to do it. Why not me?
